This is so interesting. Have you ever told someone that "oh I had lunch at Pulau Ubin" and wait for their reaction? I had my colleague almost choked by his food when he heard that.
But yes! I had a wonderful lunch with my buddy and an ex-colleague there, with the sea breeze and all...it is very convenient to reach Pulau Ubin.
First, make your way to Changi Point Jetty Terminal. It's near the bus interchange so do check out which bus can take you there.
Then take the stairs down and head to Pulau Ubin departure gate. Please don't take out your passport, people will laugh at you.
Wait for the headcount to hit 10 or 12 and the captain will ask you to board his precious boat by telling you the boat number.
Off you go..
Squeezing almost 12 people into a small boat can be really warm and uncomfortable, but the ride only took 10-15 minutes so it's bearable..
Meanwhile just enjoy the view..
Then I was welcomed by a cool canine at Pulau Ubin jetty...
So we had reached Pulau Ubin! Fresh air, sea breeze...but hot sun..
There were several bicycle shop which you can rent them by hours or day..sorry I didn't ask for the price because I was avoiding the sun by walking really quickly to my destination...
which is.....
FOOD!
Don't be deceived by the low traffic here. After 10 minutes, it was fully packed! It's ok, because by that time, our food were ready!!
Sambal Kang Kong
Fried Fu Rong Egg
Ma Po Toufu
Lemon Chicken
My favorite Steamed Fish!
I really ordered like hungry ghost because it's my one and only celebration meal of the week. I will tell you more about celebration meal when I blog about my diet regime.
These 5 dishes only cost $60+, really worth it. The amount wasn't alot but it was just nice for 3 grown ups.
Finally, we ended our lunch with First Love Patiserrie....goodness...
Again, for my readers who have not read about it yet, please click here for my first review and here for my blueberry flavor review. I highly recommend this cake!
This time, I tried the Belgium Chocolate flavor.
Oh, I tell you, having this cake by the sea was wonderful....it's like having a stroll by the beach with my lover holding my hands..simple yet sweet and delicate. Once again, I was lost with Belgium Chocolate melting and lingering in my mouth....so in love.
So do consider coming to Pulau Ubin some day! It's really refreshing and you are away from Singapore without having to chop your passport!
xoxo

First Love Patisserie, Part II - Blueberry
Before blogging about National Museum, I have to tell you about this new flavour of First Love Patisserie's Hokkaido Mille Crepe first. Because it tastes soooo nice!
If you have not read about my first entry of First Love Patisserie, do go there and have a look. The original flavour, which is Vanilla, really soothed my senses and touched my heart. The creamy and not too sweet milk being layered in between the layers of crepes...OMG...I really want it again! I want to feel the happiness of my first love again!
First Love Patisserie is located at ION Orchard level B4, very humble and simple store..
There are many other flavours available for your selection and the price is affordable..you don't have to travel to Hokkaido just to eat this and you still feel contented...remember, they allow sampling.
The Blueberry flavour was launched on 7 Sept, just a few days ago. And I couldn't help myself but have to get a piece yesterday.
Look at the Blueberry jam on top of the cake..it does not taste artificial at all. I personally do not like common jam but this is my favourite already! The blueberry taste is so rich but not tongue-numbing sweet, and it's really compatible with the mille crepe..give me the feeling of fun yet innocent part of love..it is really hard to describe..I just could not stop eating the slice, with my bare hands!

Just by looking at the thick milk cream oozed out makes me crave for it again. You see the way the blueberry jam merges with the cream and crepe...Seriously I think I will buy it again later.
Just for information, do bring it out of the fridge to defreeze it for about 5 to 10mins before you eat. If you placed it in the freezer, then defreeze for at least half an hour to 45mins and it will be perfect...However if you ordered the whole cake in advance, try to leave it outside for at least 2-3 hours because it is really hard. I guess they placed it in the freezer since morning when they made it for me. Other than that, First Love Patisserie is my favourite cake.
So girls and boys, do try it! Get other flavours too to recall the different tastes of love.

First Love Patisserie
Do you like anything Hokkaido? How about Hokkaido Thousand Layer Cake? You won't regret having this cake from ION B4-63. Right, right...ION again..but it's a convenient place with all the nice food and I was looking for a birthday cake for my dad. My dad is a "traditional-cake" man who does not fancy chocolate, and I'm really bored of all the typical sour fruit cakes or fake coffee flavor cakes or super creamy cakes.
Then I came across this First Love Patisserie...it's a humble store that you may overlook when you are too starved to notice and it does not have strong baking smell like Breadtalk, or exaggerating decoration that will attract your attention. Instead, they display 2-3 whole cakes in the shelf and let you try some samples.
The girl gave me a sample poked with toothpick..you must be thinking that the cake has so many layers, the sample should be the same, but no..I think it was only 1/5 of the original cake height. BUT I instantly fell in love with the cake as the authentic and ideally sweet vanilla melted on my tongue and the crepe layers were so thin that you can just squash it with your tongue! I really love the aroma of the crepe that lingered around the back of my throat as I exhaled through my nose. Perfectly baked. I can feel abit of romance (out of nowhere) while tasting it.. Imagine this kind of enjoyment times 5 for the height!
They have 4 flavors: Original, Chocolate, Strawberry and Oreo. I didn't dare to try other flavors because I literally afraid that I might fall in love with all and have to buy them home! Each cake is from $58 - $69 for 0.9kg and 1.3kg..they do sell in slices too. They also do delivery at extra charge by SMS (24hrs) at 9870 0005 or email at info.firstlove.co@gmail.com at least 2 days in advance. Each cake is handmade and no preservatives!
I happily and proudly presented this cake to my dad for his birthday..he was quite speechless to see the ugly sides of the cake..I told him don't judge it by the look, must cut the cake and taste..
You see the layers! See how much effort to handmake just 1 cake?! It is realllllllyyyy gooooood...but I personally suggest that you let the cake thaw for about 5 minutes once you take out from the fridge so that the cream will melt in your mouth and the crepe layers will be soft enough. You can leave the cake in room temperature for maximum 2hrs and leave it in the fridge for 3-5 days.
Seeing all these pictures made me wana eat them again! I shall go and buy the different flavors by slice this time and let you know how they are!
So if you are in love or wana feel like in love, you must try the original flavor with your eyes closed and slowly savour...
Next, Itacho Sushi. Yes, it is at ION also and always has long queue!
